I spent 100 days, January 20th through April 29th trying to make a painting a day during Trump's first 100 days. Right along side of him. I made a marathon of it, painting day and night under the influence of what ever he was doing that day. I elected to not paint when he was playing golf or lollygagging at Mar-a-Lago. This was a great relief for me. He played a staggering 31 days out of his first 100 days. I exhibited these pieces in my husbands barn this summer. Trump has been in office for almost a year now and there has been plenty more to paint about but it would have killed me I think.

I became interested in in the narrative French fabric that was popular during the 1800's. The fabric usually depicted bucolic country life scenes. I was drawn to the little vignettes of life on floating clods of earth. It struck me that the Sistine Chapel is a kind of toile and perhaps the first. I appreciate the existential concept of floating about nonsensically on little tufts of earth, perilously close to falling off of them. Just like life.

A New Biblical Outlook

Eve

What really happened in the Garden of Eden.

God created woman, Eve, who then gave birth to man, Adam, to be her helper.

Adam and Eve were told by a quasi phony authority figure to not eat the fruit of the tree of knowledge.

However God had put the tree there on purpose for them to eat from it. God was not a tease. He would not have put it there had he not meant for them to use it.

Eve, Obviously wanting to be educated, ate the fruit and gave some to Adam. He was hesitant at first because he was scared of the unknown. After he ate the fruit of knowledge he wasn’t scared anymore.

God wanted them to recognize truth from lies and good from evil so that they could go and make the whole world a garden of Eden.

The quasi authority figure kept trying to change the story to being all Eve’s fault and that eating that apple was the worst thing that ever happened to humankind. That eating from that tree forever damned them. But that was fake news.

God was thrilled that they had eaten the fruit and was looking forward to them building an Eden based on knowledge, science and rational thought.

The first victim of fake news propaganda. Accused of ruining everything in the Garden of Eden. When all she was doing was reaching for some knowledge. They should have thanked her.

Jesus & Jesella

The true story. A miracle! A pair of doves born right here in our courtyard, unearthed documents that prove that Jesus was one of a pair of twins! And the twin was a sister! His sister Jesella. And she had the ‘message’ but she was overlooked because she was a girl but she actually gave Jesus the idea to spread the ‘word’. She told him what to say and how to say it. Turns out the job was more than Jesus could handle. We all know how that turned out. Jesella is still out there. Word is she has a plan. Stay tuned!

My Billboard Quest

I’ve always wanted a billboard. Even more than a show at the Whitney. Not that I’ve ever wanted a show at the Whitney. That would be terrifying. I want a big billboard with my images and words by the side of a highway for hundreds of thousands of people to drive by and see and maybe make a difference. This is what I do in my spare time. I am furious about plastic and litter clogging our land and oceans. Please feel free to join me in this fight.
